How a page gets made
Every page on this site goes through the same steps before it is published.
- Research first. We gather the relevant authoritative sources for the topic and read them. See How we source for the references we trust.
- Verify every claim. Each statistic, disease figure, and factual statement is matched to a specific source. Anything that cannot be verified is cut or flagged, not guessed.
- Write plainly, then back it up. The plain-language answer goes at the top, the sourced detail below, and the full reference list at the bottom.
- Check for accuracy and health-safety. For medical and disease pages, we take extra care to describe risk honestly, without fear-mongering and without understating it.
- Date it. Each page gets a last-reviewed date so you know how current it is.
Health and medical content
Pages about diseases, symptoms, repellent safety, pregnancy, and children touch on health decisions. We source these to public health agencies and medical and pediatric bodies, and we are explicit that the site is educational and not a substitute for a healthcare professional or a veterinarian.
Updates and review
Mosquito-borne disease data and control guidance change over time. We revisit pages as sources are updated, especially the disease, statistics, and regional pages, and we refresh the last-reviewed date when we do.
